Sorry I can't write in French, hope someone of you would kindly translate!

An importer of my area received a shipment from Nigeria of (supposed) H. cristaus (first pic), among them there were also a different Hemichromis (pics 2 and 3) and two specimens of this nice Tilapia (around 6 cm long).

Could someone tell me which species they belong?

Thanks and cheers, paolo

Hi Paolo,

In my mind Hemichromis on first picture are females and the two others male , maybe the same species as body shape look to be the same. I think they are H. letourneauxi , but if the first one isn't female of the second, the first could be H. cristatus.

For Tilapia , it belongs to subgenus Coptodon but which species ??? (zilli, dageti, guinenssi ??)

Hello all,

more than 2 years later, I still have doubts about the exact species which these fishes belongs to:

This is a male of the "species" of the first photo of my first post of this thread:

and this is how the fish of pics 2 and 3 turned on in breeding dress.
She was a female.
Unlikely this fish is no more alive

Is it clearer to you now?

Thanks again,

Paolo
