My wild specimens are now in alcohol at MRAC, but I still keep their offspring - they max out at app. 8 cm :)

Sorry for a reply in English

I discussed the X. fluorescent green with Büscher a while ago, and he thinks it do not corresponds with X. nasus. There certainly are many similarities in coloration and general shape of the body, but some differences is also present, as the fluorescent green ...

Problem solved :$£: It explains a lot, as it would have been quite sensational with a fish showing all the characteristics of X. ochrogenys occuring at Utinta.

All the best, Thomas

This dwarf from Mpimbwe is actually mentioned in Konings 1998 book (Tanganyika Cichlids in their natural habitat) p. 91 (the English edition), and the assignement to "calvus" are likely to be an error:

A smaller shell ...

Thanks a lot, Thomas. Could you also translate the photos from Swedish to English? I'll then translate them to french. :DD

Apparantly this little cichlid from Cape Mpimbwe seems to be lost for the hobby, as many of the other species/variants discovered by African Diving - quite a shame ...

Altolamprologus sp. "calvus Micro", by Ingemar Bengtsson. First published in Ciklidbladet (Journal of the Scandinavian Cichlid Association) vol. 04/1993.

The existence of this undescribed Altolamprologus came to my knowledge ...

Ils en parlent en anglais sur cette page. La seule qui est encore active sur le site apparement.

''Boulengerichromis microlepis grows to about 70cm and the yet to be described Altolamprologus sp. "Micro", endemic to Cape Mpimbwe, does not grow larger than 20mm.''

Cichliden-stadl is a good and reliable store (I buy fishes there myself), but isn't it possible that they have made in error, probably providing you with a wrong name?

After all they usually have 6 or 7 different variants, rigth now they have Kavala, Kigoma, Makola, Mzuri, Ndole, Utinta and Zaire ...

Salut,

I don't think this fish is Xenotilapia singularis/X. sp. "ochrogenys ndole". I understand this fish is raised, with their parents apparantly caught at Utinta, Tanzania - I very much doubt it has. What's is your source of these fish ...

Normally they produce between 20-40, depending in the age of the female, condition etc. :)

Then it could be X. flavipinnis "Karema" - that is a red one, located just south of Kekese :)
